Rope Parish Council School Awards Ceremonies 2026.
Shavington Academy

Picture
Rope Parish Council Chairman, Andy Pennance, attended the awards evening at Shavington Academy on Thursday July 2nd. The Parish Council sponsors the Sports Awards at the Academy and the following pupils were the deserving winners....
Year 7      Lauren Hill & Cameron Hunter
Year 8      Annabel Johnston & Oscar Sampson
Year 9      Grace Doyle & Samuel Hough
Year 10    Charlotte Gohr & George Whitefoot
Year 11     Joel Cooper & Issy Mountford.

The Parish Council also sponsors the award for 'Service to the School' which celebrates a pupil's five years at the Academy. This years winner was year 11 pupil Ollie Melling.
In her address to the packed school hall, the Headteacher, Mrs Casewell, commented that;

'This pupil has been outstanding throughout his five years at the Academy, living and breathing our values each and every day. It’s actually quite hard to put into words how proud we are of his achievements and the person he has become, he is excellence personified, one of the nicest pupils we have ever had the pleasure to teach. He consistently demonstrates excellent behaviour, he is always an approachable ambassador, with a friendly smile that makes him a valued presence amongst pupils and staff alike. He is a true role model who’s positive attitude and dedication will leave a lasting impression, and we have no doubt that this is just the beginning. It has been an absolute pleasure watching you grow into a polite, kind and successful young man. The Rope Parish Council Award for Service to the School goes to Ollie Melling.’

Councillor Weilding placed the Rope wreath on the Crewe town centre memorial and Councillor Jones placed the wreath on the Wistaston memorial with the help of the Rev Mike Turnbull. Other Rope councillors were also at both events that were extremely well attended.

The 2026 World Cup in Rope!

One of our residents took a great deal of time and effort to celebrate the World Cup tournament taking place over the next few weeks. Here is our post box on Fuller Drive. The council are very grateful to the person who produced this lovely decoration.

Rope Planters

Our planters have been refurbished and watered by Councillors Flaherty and Jones for the summer months. Councillor Weilding is carrying out watering duties for the bottom of Fuller Drive planter.

Weeds in Rope gutters!

Here in Rope the weed growing season is in full swing. They are making some of our streets look scruffy and unkempt. Left as they are over a period of time they can do damage to our roads and pavements. If you can spare five minutes it would help the council if you remove them from outside your residence - and save money in the long term. It is heartening to see that some residents take pride in their frontage - Thankyou very much for your efforts.
